About This Course

ISO 14001:2026 was published in April 2026, the first full revision of the environmental management standard since 2015. Organizations certified to ISO 14001:2015 must transition by April 2029. This self-paced online course from Management Systems International (MSI) walks you through every change in the 2026 revision, clause by clause, including the new Clause 6.1.4 (risks and opportunities) and Clause 6.3 (planning of changes), the expanded context requirements in Clauses 4.1 and 4.2, and what auditors will look for in Section 9.

Across six modules and about 56 minutes of video, you work through a student workbook with a 37-change gap assessment checklist and MSI’s Unified Aspects, Risks and Opportunities Register (Excel), and finish with a 36-month transition roadmap you can take to your next management review. MSI’s experts have supported 80+ ISO certifications and trained 600+ professionals since 1998.

What You Will Learn

  • Walk into your next surveillance audit knowing exactly what the auditor will look for — and have the evidence ready
  • Close the two biggest gaps the 2026 revision introduces — Clause 6.1.4 and Clause 6.3 — without duplicate documentation or unnecessary rework
  • Update your Aspect Register to satisfy both Clause 6.1.2 and 6.1.4 in one unified document using MSI's proven register model
  • Determine which needs and expectations have become compliance obligations — and document them correctly before your auditor asks
  • Bring a transition plan, timeline, and resource case to your next Management Review that leadership can act on immediately
  • Know exactly which EMS documents are 'maintained' versus truly 'available' — and fix the governance gap before it becomes a finding
  • Stop guessing what 'life cycle perspective' means in practice — and apply it correctly to your aspect identification
  • Build your aspects, risks and opportunities register quickly using MSI's ready-made Excel workbook

Frequently Asked Questions

ISO 14001:2026 was published in April 2026 with a three-year transition period. Certificates to ISO 14001:2015 stop being valid after April 2029, so organizations should plan their transition audit well before then.

There are two new clauses: 6.1.4 (risks and opportunities, now separate from environmental aspects) and 6.3 (planning of changes). Context analysis in Clauses 4.1 and 4.2 now explicitly covers climate change, biodiversity, pollution and resource availability, and Clause 8.1 expands from outsourced processes to all externally provided processes, products and services. The course covers all 37 documented changes.

About 56 minutes of video across six modules, plus time to complete the workbook. It is fully self-paced, so you can stop and return at any time.
